ABOUT THE BOOK ‘WE SHOULD ALL BE MILLIONAIRES

We Should All Be Millionaires was originally published in 2021 and is written by Rachel Rodgers. Rachel Rodgers is intellectual property attorney, business coach and Founder of Hello Seven. Hello Seven is a women-run company specialising in business, marketing, financial, and legal training.

INSIDE  ‘WE SHOULD ALL BE MILLIONAIRES’

The first part of the book focuses on helping you develop a million dollar behaviour. Rachel shares how yous childhood experiences have impacted the stories you tell yourself in relation to money, and how you can change those stories. Then she shares the lies women have been told to and the laws that purposefully held women back financially.

Next Rachel shares what she calls are broke ass decisions and a millionaire decision so you can make sure you start making the right decisions moving forward. Then the book focuses on million dollar boundaries as many women struggle to put the right boundaries in place. Then the focus is on getting the right people around you (aka building your million dollar squad) and then last but not least having a million dollar vision.

Once you’ll learnt all of the million dollar behaviours it is time to move onto the million dollar roadmap so you can actually move closer to become a millionaire yourself. The first step is idenfity, and owning, the value you bring to the world and then making sure you are charging accordingly. Next Rachel shares about the importance of building your million dollar team and this can be on the professional side, as well as on the personal side. Then the focus is having good systems to manage your money.

We Should All Be Millionaires isn’t a book to read and put back on your shelf. This is a book to action and so in Chapter 11: A Million Dollars Now Rachel challenges the reader to make $10,000 in 10 days. But don’t worry set the challenge and leave you wondering what to do. There are plenty examples to get you get your imagination going.

And right at the end, in the appendix, Rachel shares 100 reasons you should be a millionaire. Just incase there is a day where you catch yourself asking ‘Why should I be a millionaire?’

QUOTES FROM WE SHOULD ALL BE MILLIONAIRES THAT I LOVED

“Money is the source of real power in society.”

“When we have wealth, we can be independent and make our own decisions.”

“The road to becoming a millionaire is paved with Million Dollar Decisions.”

“The sum of your choices is your life…Choice has led you into this life, and choice will lead you out of this life.”

“Boundaries aren’t about saying no to other people. Boundaries are about saying yes to yourself.”

“You can’t be an economic powerhouse and be liked by everyone.”

“Most women and people of colour have less powerful networks and therefore less access to professional and wealth-building opportunities.”

“Here’s another reason to make your goals big and seemingly ridiculous: there will be fewer competitors, since most people aim for average rather than greatness. There is plenty of room for you at the top”.

“Don’t limit your dreams because you are not exactly sure how you’ll get there.”

“Do things that make you feel emotionally rich (powerful, inspired, energised) so that you can become financially rich.”

“To earn millions, you first have to stop believe what the world says you are capable of as a Black woman, lesbian woman, disabled woman, fat woman, trans woman, loud woman, bossy woman, or filthy-mouted woman. Whatever kind of womn you are, the media is sending you messages every day to convince you that you are not good enough. Don’t you believe it.”

“The more you focus on one problem, the better you get at solving it and the faster you’ll make that coin.”

“Instead of just admiring women who earn millions and change the world, become one”

“Plan for the financial life you want, not the one you have.”

FINAL THOUGHTS FROM CHARELLE

When I first finished We Should All Be Millionaires I was slightly disappointed. And on reflection it was because there had been so much hype around the book being released and I had heard some of the content before either.

Rachel has some strong beliefs. She starts the book by saying “I believe every woman should want to be a millionaire” and she continues to share her strong beliefs throughout the book.

Whilst on the whole I agree with Rachel’s mission for more women to have economic power, I don’t agree with everything in the book. One part that definitely rubs me the wrong way is to “double your prices”. But I don’t have to agree with everything for it to be a valuable book – which it is.

I never normal pay attention to an appendix, but I really like the 100 reasons you should become a millionaire. I had a read through and pulled out the ones that felt most relevant to be and based on the breadth of reasons given I have no doubt everyone can find something that resonates with them.

WHO WOULD I RECOMMEND READS WE SHOULD ALL BE MILLIONAIRES: CHANGE YOUR THINKING, BUILD BANK, AND CLAIM YOUR INDEPENDENCE: A WOMAN’S GUIDE TO EARNING MORE, BUILDING WEALTH, AND GAINING ECONOMIC POWER BY RACHEL RODGERS

I would recommend this book to any woman who wants to be wealthy. That might mean you are aiming to be a millionaire but it might not. Essentially if you want to considerably change your financial situation for the better – get this book.

There are many examples in the book that mean the lessons can be applied whether you are an employee or entrepreneur. However, I would argue the book is most beneficial for entrepreneurs and business owners. This book is aimed at women and it would be beneficial for all women, but given that Rachel is biracial I think it would be extra inspiring for a black woman, brown woman or woman of colour.
