NEW YEAR, NEW LEVEL: TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO THE NEXT LEVEL IN 2025
1. Define what the ‘next level’ means to you
Take your business to the next level is a phrase that is used a lot, but what does it actually mean? The fact is the next level will look different depending on where your business is right now, what type of business you have and what ultimately you want your business to look like.
That’s why the first thing you need to do is great clear on what the next level looks like for you. Here are some common ways business owners perceive taking their business to the next level
- Increase revenue or profit – One way you can measure taking your business to the next level is the amount of revenue or profit your business makes
- Work with more clients or customers – Another way you can measure taking your business to the next level is by the number of clients or customers your business works with
- Work with a higher-caliber clients – You might not want to work with more clients, but perhaps it is the quality of the clients. That could be anything from their budget, their profile, the size of a company etc.
- Expand your offerings (services and / or products) – Going to the next level might mean selling new offerings in your business
- Broaden geographical reach – Your next level might mean your business going international, or more international.
- Improve market positioning – Your next level might be increase your profile and authority within your industry.
- Building a team – Your next level could involve making your first, or next hire, so that you have a bigger team.
- Achieve greater work-life balance – Your next level could see you working less, or working in a way that gives you greater work-life balance
As you can see there are numerous ways to think about what the next level in your business could be. And what excites you may be very different to someone else, myself included, so it’s important that you choose, and write down, what your next level looks like.
2. Set goals
Once you’ve got clarity over what the next level looks like it is now time to set some solid business goals. Having your business goals for 2025 written down will mean you have a clear focus on what you are trying to achieve.
A very common way to set business goals is using the SMART method, however, the main thing to remember is that your goals should be clear enough that anyone would be able to tell if you had or hadn’t achieved your goal.
I go into more detail about how to set business goals here.

3. Review, and possibly revise, your offer suite
What you sell is the core of your business and there a number of next level goals that are impacted by your offer suite.
- Income / Profit – if you are looking to increase your revenue or profit you’ll need to make sure you have an offer suite that enables that to happen.
- Higher calibre of client – Do you have offers that they would be interested in?
- International clients – Do you have offers that would work for someone outside of your country?
- Impact – Do you have offers that will enable you to work with the number of clients or customers you’d like.
- Work-life balance – Are your offers set up in a way that you can achieve your desired work-life balance?
It might be you are in a great position and your business already has the offer suite required to take your business to the next level. But you might not. If you don’t you’ll then need to revise your offer suite till you get to the point where your goals are achievable. This may be retiring some offers, adjusting your offers, or introducing new offers.
I go into more detail about revising your business’ offer suite for more impact, income and enjoyment here.
4. Improve your marketing and sales
For the majority of ways you can take your business to the next level you are going to need to improve your marketing. Improving your marketing will help you to:
- Increase sales
- Increase customer or client lifetime value
- Attract a higher calibre of client
- Attract international clients
- Enable you to charge more
- Position you as an authority
- Position your business as a great business to work for
As you can see improving your marketing is valuable for so many reasons, but you’ll want to focus on marketing improvements that are going to help take your business to the next level in 2025.
For example, if you want to attract a higher calibre of client then you’ll want to focus on your branding, positioning, and messaging. Whereas if you want to increase customer or client lifetime value then the focus will be on specific marketing tactics that will enable previous buyers to buy again.
There might also be some changes you need to make from a sales perspective. For example, if you want to work with a high-volume of clients and customers you’ll need to focus on marketing sales via sales pages rather than sales calls. And this often means having to change your marketing as marketing that creates leads (that are then closed on a call) is different to marketing that sells by itself.

5. Ensure you have the right operational setup
There is no point in doing all of the work to change your offer suite and make the sales pour in, but then you aren’t able to successfully deliver everything at a high standard. That’s why it is so important to ensure you have the operational setup that means your business can deliver at the next level.
Firstly, you’ll want to look at your tech. Can it support you if your business hit the desired next level? For example, I invested in Kartra (a one-stop shop for online businesses) so that I could easily scale my business. Kartra meant I knew I had the operational setup needed from both a marketing perspective (I use it for my email marketing and sales pages), as well as giving me the functionality to sell digital courses and memberships. You can find out more about how Kartra will help you to scale your online business with ease here.
6. Continually analyse your business performance
Your business isn’t going to get to the next level overnight and so it is important to continually analyse your business performance. Look at the goals your set and work out what metrics you should be tracking. Some possible ones include:
- Revenue
- Profit Margin
- Number of Sales
- Lifetime Customer / Client Value
- Split between first-time buyer and repeat buyer
- Average purchase price
- Number of Customer / Client
- The countries your customers or clients are from
- Number of hours worked
7. Invest in your Professional Growth and Support
Last, but definitely not least, as a small business owner the fact is your business will only grow as much as you grow. And the likelihood is that in order for your business to reach the next level you are going to have to focus on growing yourself.
When looking to move to the next level there are 3 areas that usually need to be focused on.
Strategy – As you take your business to the next level your level of strategy will need to improve too. At the start, and lower levels, it is easy to get away without having a solid business strategy, but as your business continues to grow and move to the next level that is no longer an option. Getting a proper strategy in place is key.
Marketing & Sales – Most business owners are natural marketers and sales people, but if you are responsible for marketing your business and / or making sales then it is an area that you need to ensure you are continually growing in. Marketing in particular does change. And ensuring your are up-to-date with what is working right now is important.
Mindset – Even if you truly want to go to the next level it is very common for you to have mindset blocks that will stop you from truly going after that next level. That’s because the next level is to a degree unknown. Making more money, working with more people, being more visible and working with better clients can all bring up fears. Fears you aren’t good enough, fear of being judged, fear of failing and so much more. That’s why so many business owners invest in getting not just business support (strategy, marketing etc), but also mindset support.
That’s it. You now know how to take your business to the next level in 2025.
Wanting to take your business to the next level in 2025 and doing that is tewo very different things. Hopefully by reading this blog post you’ve got a better idea of what needs to be thought about and done in order for you to truly take your business to the next level.
