One Last Thing: The Chapter I Wrestled with

The aim of the book is to help your business to become oversubscribed. Towards the beginning of the book, Daniel walks you through the three postions a business can be in (in relation to supply and demand).

  1. Oversubscribed – Demand is outstripping supply
  2. Balanced – Demand and Supple are relatively even
  3. Undersubscribed – Excess supply is available over demand

Now you might be thinking that there is nothing wrong with having a balanced business. However, Daniel believes that “you’ll only make a profit if you are oversubscribed on your capacity to deliver”. Daniel believes it is essential for your business to oversubscribed and through the book he wants to show you how you can get your business to that level. He believes there are 7 principles (as you can see from the contents) and walks you through each one.

The second part of the book shows you how to apply the principles. Daniel follows a model called The Campaign Driven Enterprise Model. It is a five-phase model and there is a chapter devoted to each phase.

Towards the end of the book, Daniel breaks down the team you’ll need in order to deliver The Campaign Driven Enterprise Model. I like the way Daniel outlined the roles because even though I work primarily with solo and small business owners I’m constantly talking about you need to understand the different roles within in a business. This helps an individual to manage their time when they do everything and also know how they should be growing their team.

Daniel outlines the four necessary roles as:

  1. Key Person of Influence (He explains this term in his book Key Person of Influence).
  2. Head of Sales and Marketing
  3. Head of Operations and Product
  4. Head of Finance, Logistics and Reporting

Finally, at the end, the reader is left with a cryptic message.

FINAL THOUGHTS FROM CHARELLE

Overall I enjoyed this book. Daniel explains the concept well, shares the principles behind becoming oversubscribed and then breaks down how to do it yourself. I had already read Key Person of Influence (You can read my review here) so I knew that I liked the way Daniel writes. The level is written at the perfect level for me and I found it an easy read, but by completing the tasks and thinking about how it applies to my businesses it is still valuable.

Unfortunately, I didn’t understand the cryptic message so that was a little frustrating and will mean I need to read the book at another point, but it didn’t stop me from finding great value in the book.

WHO WOULD I RECOMMEND READS OVERSUBCRIBED BY DANIEL PRIESTLEY

I would recommend this book to aspiring and current business owners and entrepreneurs. I think anyone who is struggling to make sales would find it valuable. However, whilst there are a lot of books that are aimed at beginner or struggling entrepreneur this book is different. It is also a great book for someone who has been doing well for a number of years, but wants to increase their profit.
