3 FREE WAYS TO INCREASE THE VISIBILITY OF YOUR SMALL BUSINESS

1. SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

The first free way to increase the visibility of your business is by utilising SEO. If you aren’t familiar with SEO it stands for Search Engine Optimisation and it is a technique used to help improve how content performs in a search engine. The technique was originally used on websites to help them rank on traditional search engines like Google and Bing. However, the technique can now be used across a number of platforms such as YouTube and Pinterest.

To use SEO to increase your visibility you’ll need to think about what keywords you want to rank for. Your keywords should be relevant to your business and what your ideal client or customer actually search for.

2. Social Media

Social media marketing is usually the first point of call for business owners who are trying to market their business for free. However, not all activity on social media channels will increase the visibility of your business. If you want to use social media to increase the visibility of your business then you need to be intentional about getting in front of new users, rather than your current followers. A few ways you can do this is by:

  • Using hashtags – Hashtags allow your posts (as long as your profile is public) to be seen by others users regardless of whether they follow you or not.
  • Asking users to tag other users – If you create a post where you ask users to tag other users then once again you are opening up the opportunity for new people to become aware of you. Not only will new people become aware of you, but hopefully since they’ve been tagged by someone the content should be relevant to them and therefore you have a higher chance of the individual finding the content valuable and engaging.

3. Collaborations and Partnerships

Another great way to increase the visibility of your business is through collaborations and partnerships. As a business owner you should be clear on your target market and who you want to get in front of. Using that information, you can then find other businesses and brands who already have that type of person in their audience, follower, membership community etc. and collaborate with them.

There are a number of ways you can use this technique:

  • Guest blogging
  • Be interviewed on a podcast or video show
  • Speak at people’s events, summits etc

There you have it! You now know 3 free ways to increase the visibility of your small business.
