ABOUT THE BOOK ‘CHILL AND PROSPER’

Chill and Prosper was written by Denise Duffield-Thomas. Denise Duffield-Thomas is a money mindset mentor, coach and author.

Chill and Prosper was published in July 2022 by HayHouse. It has previously been published as Chillpreneur in 2019. As you can see from the contents the book is split into 4 parts: Mindset, Business Models, Money and Marketing.

 

Mindset

In this part of the book, Denise shares the many fears that hold many business owners. She then shares 3 specific money mindset blocks that will hold back your business success. This part of the book closes with Denise sharing 3 mindset lessons she’s learnt whilst building a multi-million dollar business.

 

Business Models

You can have the best mindset in the world but if you want to grow your business with ease then you need to have made the right decisions about your business model. In this part of the book Denise talks about consciously designing a chillpreneur business. She talks about the importance of knowing yourself and building a business around your strengths. She shares some of the biggest business mistakes she has made, which pulled her away from running a chill business.

 

Denise is the face of her business and knows that protecting herself ‘the Golden Goose’ is key. She shares how you can also ensure that you are protecting yourself, whilst growing your business at the same time.

 

Money

Money and mindset are the two things Denise is best known for and if you want a successful business then getting the money side of it right is essential. The majority of this money part of the book is focused on pricing. Then there is a comprehensive section with scripts to help with some of the awkward money conversations you may face as a business owner.

 

Marketing

Last, but not least, the book looks at marketing. Denise keeps her marketing fairly simple with a focus on being visible, making offers and, on the whole, all roads lead to Bootcamp. She shares tips to help simplify marketing, whilst being honest about the numbers side so you can be realistic about what it will take to generate the level of sales you desire.

 

The book ends with a short message about legacy with the final words being

“If you remember nothing else, remember this: you have no idea what your legacy will be. You have no idea how many people will be touched by your business, your leadership example, your messages, and the sheer audacity of you showing up”.

FINAL THOUGHTS FROM CHARELLE

I enjoyed reading Chillpreneur so when I saw Chill and Prosper was being published I was intrigued to see what the retitled and updated version would be like. Whilst there is a lot of repetition from the original book I still enjoyed reading it. The updated version includes stories from other business owners who have followed Denise’s principles and seen success. In addition, with my own business now at a different stage, I took different takeaways.

Chill and Prosper is a great book for online business owners and entrepreneurs. Especially those who want to grow their business, but in a way that is easy and aligned. In the book, Denise shares the lessons she’s learnt whilst grown a multi-million dollar company, but very much in her ‘Chillpreneur’ way. So whether you are someone just about to start an online business and want to start out on the right foot, or you are someone who has an established online business and would like to grow with more ease, you’ll find this book helpful.
