How To Use Blog Content To Fill An Evergreen Sales Funnel

Are you looking for a way to create an evergreen sales funnel for your business? Want to start using your blog content more strategically to fuel sales in your business? If so, then keep on reading as I will be sharing how you can use blog content to drive traffic into an evergreen funnel.

Before we dive into how you can use your blog content to fill your evergreen funnel, it is important we are all on the same page about what an evergreen sales funnel is.

What is an evergreen sales funnel?

An evergreen sales funnel is a sales funnel that can operate 24/7. For context, evergreen content is content that is always relevant. Now always relevant might be a little bit of an overstatement, but on the whole, it means the content isn’t timely and whether someone finds that content today, next week, next month or next year it will still be relevant. So, with an evergreen sales funnel the idea is that the sales funnel is timeless and once you had set it up it will continue to run with little intervention.

How do I use my blog content to fill an evergreen sales funnel?

There are a number of ways you can use your blog content to fill an evergreen sales funnel. Two popular sequences in the coaching / consulting world are blog:

  • Blog post > Lead Magnet > Email Sequence > Product / Service
  • Blog post > Webinar / Masterclass > Sales Call > Service

This is just two examples of many different sales funnels you can build. For the purpose of this blog post, I will be going through the first example of an evergreen sales funnel. This is the perfect starter evergreen sales funnels as it is slightly less daunting for most than having to film a webinar or masterclass.

How do I create an evergreen sales funnel?

Once you have chosen what type of evergreen sales funnel you want to create it is time to start working through each element. When it comes to creating your evergreen sales funnel you need to start with your end goal in mind and then reverse engineer the process.

Step 1: Identify what service or product you will be offering

Remember at the beginning I shared what evergreen meant, well you need to make sure that the service or product you are offering is evergreen. For example, as a life coach, you might have evergreen offerings such as a membership community (that takes members all year round), 1:1 coaching or a self-study course. These are all perfect to build an evergreen funnel around. However, an evergreen sales funnel wouldn’t work for a group coaching programme that has a clear start and end date or a membership community that only opens its doors at certain times of the year.

Step 2: Decide what lead-magnet you will create

Once you have defined what offering you would like the funnel to lead to you will then need to think about what will be the perfect lead-magnet. This will be a free gift that you offer to people in return for their email address. Now to maximise the success of your funnel you need to ensure that the lead-magnet is closely aligned to the thing you are trying to sell.

Step 3: Choose & write connected blog topics

Now that you have chosen the product/service you want to promote and the lead magnet you will be using to attract the client you can start brainstorming all of the possible blogs you could write that relate to your lead-magnet. xxx

Step 4: Write and build your automated email sequence

You have your blog posts, you have your lead magnet and you have the product/service you want to sell. There is just one thing missing – the automated email sequence.

The length of your automated email sequence will depend on the price of the thing you are selling, but to get started a 5 stage email sequence is a great aim. Remember, this traffic might be cold (new to you) so through the email sequence you want to be sharing a bit more about you, increasing the know, like and trust factor, positioning yourself as an expert, sharing how solving their problem will change their life and then showing how you have the answer to their problem via your product or service. Now I know that seems a lot to do in 5 emails, but you can do it!

Step 5: Put it all together.
I am assuming that your product/service already has a sales page (if not you will need to make one quick) so now you are ready to bring everything together. So the journey should look like this.

  • A highly targeted blog post on your website
  • A call-to-action in the blog post to sign up for your lead-magnet
  • Your lead magnet is delivered
  • Email sequence continues over the next 5 days
  • Call-to-action in the email to buy X
  • A link in  your email takes the subscriber to a sales page where they can buy

That is everything you need to get your first evergreen sales funnel setup!

Now if you are just starting out I know that might seem a lot, but I promise you it is totally doable.
