INSIDE  ’24 ASSETS’

In the beginning of 24 Assets Daniel talks about the realities of running a business and how many entrepreneurs don’t fulfil their business dreams. They often end up working hard but making less money than if they were employed. They create a business that is useless without them, because of one thing – not focusing on building assets. Daniel states the importance of building assets whether you are trying building a lifestyle business or a performance busines, and states that the rest of the book will teach you about the 24 assets (hence the title) you should be creating in your business.

In Part 1: The Entrepreneurial Journey you’ll learn about the stages of the entrepreneur journey and the importance of knowing your business’ revenue per person. You’ll then find out about tools and assets differ, and the power of assets to generate income. Then you’ll learn about the seven steps that allow an entrepreneur to fast-track the process of developing assets. Daniel also writes about how you need to change your thinking in order to apply this method and see the benefits.

Part 2: 24 Assets is where Daniel goes through the 24 different assets your business needs. In total there are 7 different asset categories:

  • Intellectual property
  • Brand assets
  • Market assets
  • Product assets
  • System assets
  • Culture assets
  • Funding assets

Daniel explains each category and then the assets you need under each category. At the end of every asset category there is a rapid action steps section so you can quickly start to implement what you’ve learnt.

Now that the understand what the different assets are it is time to start building those assets and creating the digital, scalable and valuable business you dream of, and this is covered in Part 3: Asset Creation. Whilst it is important to have all 24 assets Daniel encourages you to identify what your 2 core assets are. You are then walked through the asset creation cycle and Daniel leaves you will a special asset every business needs to succeed.

FINAL THOUGHTS FROM CHARELLE

Overall, I loved this book. I’ve previously read Key Person of Influence and Oversubscribed and I loved both of them. Daniel is clearly a very smart businessman, but he is able to take the knowledge and turn it into books that can be understood by the masses. I loved the breadth of the assets covered. Daniel isn’t the first to say you need assets, but often the focus is on something fairly simple such as create a digital product (an asset) that can generate sales without you being involved. Whilst Daniel does talk about product assets that is just one of the seven asset categories mentioned and I gained a lot by thinking about the whole range of assets needed.
